    Teodoro ready to face Noynoy

MANILA, Philippines – Blood is thicker than politics.

Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. declared yesterday he would expect to be pitted against his first cousin Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in case the ruling coalition chooses him as presidential candidate in the 2010 elections.

Teodoro though stressed he will not allow politics to destroy his good relations with Aquino and his relatives.

“Distribute Hacienda Luisita now,” Noynoy urged

As Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III announced his plan to run for president this coming election in 2010, the militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP, Peasant Movement of the Philippines) urged him to convince his family to immediately distribute Hacienda Luisita to agricultural workers.

Lakas and the Binay group to join Noynoy Aquino

Senator Noynoy Aquino is sure to become the strongest presidential candidate, even stronger than Villar or former president Joseph Estrada if two major political forces merge or coalesce with the Noypi movement anytime soon.

And the possibility is higher than expected.

Will NoyNoy Aquino pave the way for meaningful political change?

There seems to be signs that we are heading towards some major political change. I am ecstatic at the prospect and yet trying to control myself at not overreacting or reading too much at the developments. I must admit I have never been one who gets excited at Philippine elections especially the presidential and national kind. Endorsing or even voting for a presidential candidate is not exactly a good proposition based on our past experience of retrogression all these years. I am not about to change that just so I can get disappointed and lose face in the process.

MANILA, Philippines—Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III officially announced that he will run for president in 2010 on Wednesday, exactly 40 days after the death of his late mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

Aquino made the announcement of his candidacy for the presidency at about 8 a.m. at the Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City, the same venue where his late mother took her oath as president in 1986.

Personalities present at the jam-packed room were Liberal Party members Senators Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Francis Pangilinan, former Sen. Franklin Drilon, Quezon Representative Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III, former congressmen Florencio “Butch” Abad and Nereus Acosta, singer-composer Jim Paredes, former Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz and Leah Navarro of the Black and White Movement.
